When Soils Require Remediation
The most common method for site remediation is the physical removal of the contaminated soils, which should always be done at the time of tank removal. We typically finish the tank removal, excavating activities, and backfilling and site restoration in one day. The contaminated soils are transported to a permitted disposal facility on the same day. We try to avoid disturbing the landscape as much as possible, but tank removal is a messy process (no complaints so far). If the UST has not leaked, and/or the concerned parties are in agreement, Sensible Solutions prefers to abandon the tank in-place to avoid disturbing the landscape.
