All too often, a buried utility line has been routed over the underground storage tank (UST). Sometimes it is an electrical cable, or a sewer line, or a natural gas pipeline, or a water supply line as shown in the photo to the left. In this case, the water line is a copper pipe running from the well to the house. Not visible in the photo is the cast iron sewer pipe, which is located within inches of the right-hand end of the UST. These two obsticles prevented us from removing the tank in the conventional way.
This is why SSE should be your first choice in tank removal.

The property owner was extremely pleased that the water and sewer lines were left undisturbed. He was also pleased with our site restoration. We treat every property as though it were our very own. Call Sensible Solutions Environmental today to schedule a UST and soils inspection. And remember - we won't be undersold!

Most UST removal contractors would hire a plumber to cut the water line and reconnect it once the tank has been removed, which would add a significant cost to the project. SSE had a better idea.
We cut a large hole in the top of the UST, almost the entire length of the tank. You can see the water line extending across the top of the tank in the photo to the right. After vacuuming out the fuel oil and sludge, and pressure-washing the interior of the tank, the tank was cut in half around the circumference of the tank right beneath the water line.
One half of the UST was then removed from the ground, being very careful not to disturb the water line. Then the other half was removed.
Success!!!
